Möten i Dansen – Steg som gror

Möten i Dansen – Steg som gror is a dance residency taking place over 1.5 years in Mjölby Municipality, with Mantorp as its base. The residency is a collaboration between Dans i Öst/Region Östergötland, Mjölby Municipality, Riksteatern Östergötland, Veta Hembygdsförening and Mjölby Riksteaterförening

A dance residency means that an artist is given the opportunity to work long-term in one place, both for artistic development and to create encounters between dance and people in everyday life. Through performances, workshops, and collaborations with local organisations, dance is given a natural place in the community. The goal is to build a long-term and vibrant dance culture that continues even after the residency ends.

During the residency period, Anna Holmström will:
develop a completely new dance performance (Glöd).
– collaborate with community associations, schools, and cultural organizations,
– create activities that spread the joy of dance to all ages.

Steg som gror

“We see the dance residency as an opportunity to open up for people of all ages to encounter dance in their local community. Through Anna’s work, we hope to create a stronger dance culture in our region, where more people can discover both the joy and the power of dance,”

Lena Lindgren, former cultural strategist in Mjölby Municipality.

Over 100 Applicants for New Dance Performance in Mjölby

On Saturday, February 7, an audition was held for the new contemporary dance performance Glöd. The interest has been strong – more than 100 professional dancers have applied.

The performance is being created within the framework of the dance residency Möten i Dansen – Steg som gror in Mjölby Municipality and will premiere during the autumn dance festival taking place on October 29 in Mjölby.

Glöd is a contemporary dance performance that explores the inner fire as a symbol of courage, and community. Through dance, music, and light, it raises questions about vitality and responsibility: What are we passionate about today? How do we reignite the spark when the inner fire begins to fade?

“It feels fantastic that there has been such high interest and such a high level of quality in the applications. We have applicants with regional, national, and international backgrounds, which shows that the project is generating strong interest,”
