A duo performance that creates meetings between movement and saxophone, people and local places!

Mötet is a dance and music performance created and performed by dancer Anna Holmström and saxophonist Erika Lindholm. Through movement and music, the theme ”meeting” is explored in town squares and schoolyards, in sparsely populated areas and urban areas.
The purpose of the project is to create conditions for meetings between local people, professional artists and the surrounding environment. The projects target group is people who pass through a local meeting place on a daily basis.
How can we encourage people to look up from their phones and see each other?
Dare to meet in the unplanned, exchange a look, maybe a laugh and become part of a context?
Background
The project idea arose after a meeting between saxophonist Erika Lindholm and dancer Anna Holmström at the cultural festival #Taggad2023.
A common interest in creation led to a one-week research residency in Hällefors in the fall of 2023. Rehearsing outdoors opened up for new artistic perspectives: the experience of moving through gravel on the ground, the natural acoustics that sound from the saxophone, the heat of the sun and spontaneous meetings between people.
By analyzing the research residency it became clear that the future creation process of the performance is dependent on the exchange between artist, audience and surrounding environment.
In the spring of 2024 the creation process of a duo performance began in Mauerpark in Berlin. During the rehearsals people of different ages approached us to talk about what they experienced.
In 2024 the production received a smaller dance production grant from Region Örebro län. With the support, we have completed a week’s production work in the Örebro region where we have rehearsed outdoors in public places in the municipalities of Askersund, Kopparberg, Hällefors and Lindesberg.

Artistic Team
Erika Lindholm is a curious and skilled saxophonist, based in improvisational music. She is working with multiple bands and artistic genres such as dance and theatre performances, performance art, solo concerts and music bands playing jazz, Swedish, Brazilian, Romanian and Bulgarian folk music.
With her various bands, she has released three albums; Erika Lindholm 2019, Och bara låta 2017, Rackarns 2020, and also appeared as a saxophonist on several albums. Since 2013, Erika has played in many cultural arenas all over Europe but also in Brazil and Cuba. She has received various scholarships and funding for her music and today works as a musician and composer.

Anna Holmström is a dynamic dance artist who is interested in nature and sustainability. Since 2010 she has worked as a soloist dancer in world tours such as Sadler’s Well’s production ”Message in A Bottle” at the Sydney Opera House, worked as a project manager for social cultural projects in Sweden and participated in all-style and experimental battles around Europe.
In 2015 Anna founded Petricore Movement. An artistic platform where she, together with artists from all over the world, creates thought-provoking dance performances, workshops, dance films and exhibitions. Her debut solo “Debris”, created together with the composer Patrick Zylka on the theme of plastic litter in the world’s oceans, has toured Europe and the USA.
